Offer Description

RECTOR OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY announces the competition for the position of assistant professor in a group of research and teaching employees in the Department of Optoelectronics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St.

Job description:
1) the competition for the position of assistant profesor is open to persons who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 700 as amended),
2) estimated work commencement date: 01.10.2025,
3) workplace and type of contract: Department of Optoelectronics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, full-time employment contract, 
4) period of employment: from 01.10.2025 to 30.09.2027 (with the possibility of extension).

Requirements:
1) PhD degree in engineering in the scientific discipline of biomedical engineering,
2) completion of at least two-month foreign internship or six-month domestic internship in scientific and research, industrial or local government units,
3) substantive participation in a research project financed from funds other than a subsidy,
4) publication achievements in international scientific journals, as well as documented achievements in the promotion and popularization of science,
5) proficiency in Polish, enabling free conduct of didactic classes and the creation of educational publications,
6) proficiency in English sufficient for writing scientific publications, preparing technical documentation, creating educational materials, and conducting didactic classes.

Additional Requirements:
1) documented participation in thematic conferences and symposia, 
2) documented participation in research projects funded by external sources (e.g., NCN, NCBiR, FNP, etc.),
3) knowledge of techniques used in the so-called wet lab,
4) proficiency in at least two programming languages (R, Python, MATLAB),
5) ability to analyze, interpret, and visualize data,
6) documented scientific achievements allowing participation in research projects aligned with the scientific profile, confirmed by authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications in national or international journals,
7) documented teaching experience enabling the conduction of classes in accordance with the scientific and didactic profile of the Department of Optoelectronics,
8) documented experience in operating a mass spectrometer.
