EURAXESS Share events

The "EURAXESS Share" events are regional networking events targeting researchers of all fields who are involved or interested in Japan-Europe cooperation and mobility opportunities. Researchers can network and meet each other in order to share experience, as well as discuss best-practices of doing research between Europe and Japan.

It is not always easy to come to the capital for events lasting at most a few hours. These regional events are the perfect opportunity for you to get to know us, but also to network with other researchers and administrators of all disciplines, profile and nationalities which may perhaps be the start of a fructuous relation!

Thanks to our local partner Tohoku Forum for Creativity and to you all, The third edition of our EURAXESS Share (regional networking) event series was a great success!

It was held close to Tohoku University's WPI AIMR, in the wonderful Tohoku Forum for Creativity building. This permitted participation of students and researchers from the nearby institutions (such as Fukushima University or the Miyagi University), but also from the broader, northern Japan region. And indeed, we had participation of more than 60 of you, from nearby institutions as well as from other prefectures (Niigata, Fukushima)!

The short presentation session was very lively, with enthusiastic speeches from Professor Ito (Tohoku University) and Dr Kuczynski (EU Delegation to Japan) on attractiveness of Europe as a research area; but also extremely interesting insights from Drs Aoki, Penmellen-Boret, Numata and Stegaroiu, who gave us feedback on their experiences as researchers abroad, with both of them underlining the very beneficial influence of their time abroad on their career evolution.

We’re looking forward to continuing these series of local events elsewhere (maybe in Shikoku next year?), so stay tuned!

Thanks to our local partner EUIJ-Kyushu and to you all, The second edition of our EURAXESS Share (networking) event series was a great success!

It was held close to Hakata station in Fukuoka prefecture on 15 April, to allow participation of students and researchers from the nearby institutions (such as Kyushu University or the Kyushu Institute of Technology), but also from the broader, southern Japan region. And indeed, we had participation of more than 50 of you, from local institutions as well as from the Yamaguchi prefecture, Kagoshima prefecture, and even Okinawa!

The short presentation session was very lively, with enthusiastic speeches from Professor Hachiya (EUIJ-Kyushu) and Dr Kuczynski (EU Delegation to Japan) on attractiveness of Europe as a research area; but also extremely interesting insights from Dr Kasagi (Kyushu University) and Dr Visentini Scarzanella (Kagoshima University), who gave us feedback on their experiences as researchers abroad, with both of them underlining the very beneficial influence of their time abroad on their career evolution.

We were around 50 to attend the very first EURAXESS Links Japan event outside of Tokyo on 12 November.

The first edition of what will probably become a series of EURAXESS Share events was held in Osaka, Umeda, thanks to our two local partner and co-organisators, Kwansei Gakuin University and EUIJ-Kansai. Thank you!

After welcome remarks by Dr Bungsche, Professor at the Kwansei Gakuin University and Mr Yamanishi, Administrative director of the EU Institute in Japan - Kansai, we EURAXESS Links Japan presented along with Dr Kuczynski from the EU Delegation to Japan a view on cooperation opportunities with Europe.

After what, our two guest speakers, Dr Aoki (ERC Grantee, CEA/Leti, Grenoble - IMR, Tohoku University) and Dr Cosentino (JSPS Fellow, Osaka University) provided us with feedback on their experience on international mobility, on their current grant and on their view as to why research cooperation is important to them.

And last but not least, the networking session allowed everyone to discuss, share views and information until late in the evening while enjoying typical food from the Kansai region.
