Recognition of diplomas

Working in Europe | Recognition of diplomas | Belgium

Recognition or equivalence of diplomas is of utmost importance for mobile researchers. Researchers have sometimes obtained diplomas from all over the world.

If you have a diploma awarded by a foreign institution, it is possible that it will not be recognized in Belgium (and consequently will not be taken into account by your host institution in Belgium), or that it will not be regarded as equivalent to a diploma issued by a Belgian institution.

For your own peace of mind, or if you have any doubts about any of your diplomas, you should contact the Belgian administration competent for your host university.

For secondary and higher education diplomas, contact the Education ministry equivalence service.
